Is the economic bubble about to burst???

Of late we have heard a lot of manufacturing companies outsourcing operations to distant countries, especially the Far East, pleading justification in operational costs. We have also got used to foreign labour being imported to replace native workers - headline in recent ‘Donegal on Sunday’ newspaper ‘Mulrines employ fifty Poles and lay off twenty local workers’. But another variation - recently talking to a building consultant, he was telling me of two prominent hospitality sector executives in nearby towns, one building a new hotel and the other adding a massive extension, sourcing all their furniture, fixtures and fittings directly from China - in the process - even with the cost of shipping over, saving themselves more than 40%. ...(Continued in print edition of Donegal Times)

Fr Eoghain O’Frighil - the consummate communicator

Many words have been spoken and columns written on the life and achivements of Fr Eoghain O’Frighil. And he would have enjoyed that. He loved the whole media thing and revelled in being in its midst. And this was not a vanity - the whole concept of communications intrigued him. And his frequent forays into the spoken word on air showed how good he was at it. So as a small part of the media community, Donegal Times bids our local cleric a fond and respectful farewell.

Fr Eoghain O’Frighil dies

Parish priest who achieved so much for Killymard passes to eternal reward

To the great sorrow of his parishioners and all who knew him, Fr Eoghain O’Frighil (78), Parish Priest of Killymard, departed this life last Saturday, 7th November. Having left hospital some weeks ago, he spent his last days in his home area of Derrybeg in the loving care of family. On Saturday night last Fr Ownie passed away thus ending a fruitful and productive life............(Continued in print edition of Donegal Times)
